Thank you for buying one of our First Aid Kits for Plants. If you have particular problems with your plants or garden you can start with these, but there are also things you can do if all is well in your garden.
Silica
All plants need Silica. It helps to strengthen plant cells. It’s what makes the grass stand back up after you walk on it. A strong and resilient plant is less susceptible to pests and diseases. Silica also helps soil to absorb water and can be used as a preventative for fungal diseases.
Apply to your plants/garden once or twice per season (particularly in Spring).
Just be careful not to give plants too many doses of Silica as it can make the skins of fruit too tough. One or two applications per season is fine for most plants/trees. However, you may want to avoid root crops, or give them a maximum of one dose as it encourages above-ground growth so you may find that your carrots/kohlrabi etc grow lots of leaves at the expense of the roots! Also avoid applying Silica in late summer or autumn.
Slugs and snails
If your plants or seedlings are getting munched by slugs and snails, try an application of Helix tosta in your garden. Helix tosta is made from the toasted shell of the burgundy snail and has been known to deter slugs and snails for up to 3 months after just one dose, even if it rains heavily during this time.
Arnica
Arnica is a wonderful remedy to choose if you’re not sure where to start. Perhaps a plant or tree is not doing so well, but you’re not sure what remedy matches it’s symptoms. Start with Arnica and go from there. Arnica is a strengthening remedy, particularly for roots, and it’s also a great remedy to choose if your plants get damaged or bruised in any way.
